How many times in the past month have you come across this question? How many times have you guessed a genre of the song only to realize it’s Alternative Rock instead of Brit Pop. This is actually true in case of Coldplay’s Fix You.
Problem Definition
Searching for a song on Spotify with the hope of knowing its genre, I hit the wall. It was a failed attempt. I could manually search for specific songs and Google throws the genres at you. But there are multiple frictions in this process.
For starters, its cumbersome to google every single song. Moreover, Google’s database [ironically] doesn’t support for Indian songs [Bollywood]. Also, the classical music is another section that’s left out of their genre detection algorithm.
